Description

This pack contains a number of Remote Actions (with some associated Campaigns) to assist you in the management of your Chrome application estate.By means of the Remote Actions available customers can gain an understanding of which plug-ins are installed to Chrome on devices, as well as the ability to set a desired configuration of plug-ins on devices. The facility to set a blacklist of banned plug-ins is also available (within the Set Chrome Plugins Remote Action).Compliance management is also offered by means of the ability to define a list of "desired" plug-ins and compare this against the Chrome application estate.Finally the pack allows the ability to clear Chrome settings (such as History, Chrome Cache, and Cookies) which can be useful in troubleshooting scenarios.

Clear Chrome settings

Script Description

Clears Chrome files according to the specified parameters. Useful for troubleshooting several browsing-related issues.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'interactive user'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 720 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
Browsing History List of visited websites. Set it to "true" for deletion, "false" otherwise
Cache Cached images and sites. Set it to "true" for deletion, "false" otherwise
Cookies Cookies saved on the device by websites. Set it to "true" for deletion, "false" otherwise
Clear Chrome Settings Campaign Id ID of the campaign to notify the user that Chrome must be closed
Operation Completed Campaign Id ID of the campaign to notify the user that Chrome settings have been cleared and operation is completed. Provide an empty value ("") to avoid executing this campaign

Get Chrome Plugins

Script Description

Retrieves the plugins currently configured for Chrome, in alphabetical order, displaying version and status.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'interactive user'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Further Information

A Chrome browser which version is higher than 65 must be installed.
Chrome installation comes with default extensions that are hidden to the user. However, the Remote Action's output will list them.
These extensions may be, but not limited to:
- Chrome Media Router
- GMail
- Google Drive
- YouTube
- Chrome Web Store Payments.

Set Chrome Plugins

Script Description

Sets a list of plugins to be installed or banned by editing Chrome Policies. Removing previous policies is also possible. The script is designed for Windows 10 and 7, and Chrome 65 onwards.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Campaign Id Campaign Id to invoke when Chrome is needed to be closed
Banned Plugins Plugin Id, or a comma-separated list of plugin Ids to be banned on the device. Type "" to not change this policy
Mandatory Plugins Plugin Id, or a comma-separated list of plugin Ids to be installed on the device. Type "" to not change this policy
Remove Previous Policies Set if the previous Chrome policies have to be removed before applying the new ones stated in the previous parameters. Set it to "true" for deletion, "false" otherwise

Further Information

Manages plugins from all user profiles on the device, even if the profile is not the current loaded one. Plugin Id can be found in the Chrome Store file information. A normal user cannot disable plugins that have been installed by Chrome Policies. When a plugin is banned, the user cannot install it using the Chrome Store.

Test Chrome Plugins Compliance

Script Description

Compares a list of required Chrome plugins against the current ones installed on the device.

Parameters

Plugins To Check List of comma separated plugins names to check if they are installed. Plugin names must be provided for exact match. To check the status and/or version compliance you can use three different formats. To check only the version, 'name' ('version'). To check only the status, 'name' (Enabled/Disabled). Or to check both, 'name' ('version'; Enabled/Disabled). E.g. Gmail, Docs (Enabled), Google Drive (34.67.0.2; Disabled), Chrome Media Router (7719.805.0.3)
Strict Compliance When 'false', the compliance is met when all provided plugins match the installed ones. When 'true', the compliance is met whet all plugins listed match with the installed ones and those are the only plugins installed

Restrictions

Further Information

The output of Get Chrome Plugins can be copied and pasted directly into PluginsToCheck input parameter, since both use the same format.
If the input enforces an specific version, it will only be compliant if the installed version is exactly the same. A higher version will be not compliant.
