Description

Enable or disable Nexthink Application Experience functionality on Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge browsers.

This pack was developed for customers with a Nexthink Application Experience License.

Set Application Experience

Script Description

Provides the ability to enable or disable browser extensions which are required for Nexthink Application Experience. Support is provided for the following browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based).If any of these browsers are present on the targeted device, the Application Experience extension will be enabled (or disabled depending on the input) on the device.Please be aware that use of Application Experience requires the necessary product license.The remote action installs our browser extension by setting a registry key at the local machine level, which can overwrite any existing browser extension policy at the current user level.Please make sure that you don’t have existing browser extensions set at the current user level (or higher level) before deploying Nexthink Application Experience browser extension, or those could be uninstalled.More details:

You can also type “chrome://policy” or “edge://policy” to check existing policies on individual devices.”

Set user Application Experience

Script Description

Sets the Application Experience browser extensions to enabled or disabled on target devices in Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
Status Installs or uninstall the Application Experience extension on all the available browsers through a group policy

Outputs

None.

Further Information

This Remote Action runs with local system permissions but applies the policies to those users who are logged in, if no user is logged in the Remote Action will fail.
If none of these browsers are present on the target device, or the versions are not supported, the Remote Action will fail.
Supported versions are:
- Google Chrome 99 onwards
- Microsoft Edge 99 onwards
- Mozilla Firefox 97 onwards

The Remote Action installs our browser extension by setting a registry key at the user level, If there are already installed at machine level the Remote Action will fail. In case you need to configure the policies at the machine level, you can use "Set Application Experience" Remote Action

You can also type “chrome://policy” in Google Chrome, “edge://policy” in Microsoft Edge or "about:policies" in Mozilla Firefox to check existing policies.

Due to the way Mozilla Firefox manages plugins, when disabling Application Experience feature, the plugin will not be removed. Instead, it will be "unlocked" and end users will be able to remove the plugin manually.
Mozilla Firefox by default requires 24 hours to detect new extensions that have been configured by GPO.
