Get Boot Information

Script Description

This Remote Action allows organizations to gather detailed information from endpoints relating to the device boot process.

You should note that to use this Remote Action to collect the required level of information, the status parameter should be set to enableand doing so ensures that the target device captures the necessary ETW trace at the time of device boot (known as the Boot Autologger).

The first time the Remote Action is executed on a device, the Boot Autologger is set. The device must then be restarted to begin capturing detailed boot information.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
status The action which the Remote Action will perform. The accepted values are 'enable' and 'disable'

Outputs

Label Type Description
tracing enabled String Indicates if the tracing has been enabled. The possibles values are (Tracing not enabled, Tracing is missing a provider, Tracing is enabled and data available, Tracing is enabled waiting for restart)
boot type String The type of the boot of the device. Values can be 'normal boot' or 'fast boot'
last boot time DateTime Indicates the time when the last boot started
OS Boot Duration Millisecond Indicates the time from the moment the kernel is loaded until logonui.exe is started
boot duration Millisecond Indicates the time from the moment that the user presses the power button until the user credentials are entered
main path boot duration Millisecond Indicates the time from the moment that the OS starts to load until the desktop is displayed
logon duration Millisecond Indicates the time from the moment the user has entered the credentials until the Desktop screen is displayed

Set Boot Autologger

Script Description

Enables or disables the Autologger configuration. In addition to this, an ETW Trace Session will be enabled along the Autologger configuration.

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
Status The action which the Remote Action will perform. The accepted values are 'enable' and 'disable'
Campaign Id The id of the Campaign which will be executed as the final step. Use an empty GUID (00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000) or empty value "" to avoid the Campaign

Outputs

None.

Further Information

It is necessary to restart the device after executing this Remote Action so that the Autologger can log boot details.

Script Description

Provides detailed and granular information about the Boot time of a Windows 10 device.

- Be aware that before the execution of this Remote Action, Set Boot Autologger Remote Action must be run and the device must be restarted in order to create the necessary ETW trace session.
- Only compatible with Windows 10.
