Description

This Library pack is a collection of different Remote Action scripts which provide some information of the devices’ health and useful insights for troubleshooting common Windows issues.Please use the links on the left menu to learn more about the function and range of action of each script.

Get Folder Size

Script Description

Script provides total size, total number of detected subdirectories and files in provided path.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 720 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Restrictions

Further Information

Depending on the input path, this script can have a significant performance impact. Use on small folder structures only!
Parameter 'MaximumDelayInSeconds' can be used to add random script execution delay. It should be used in virtualized environments to spread over time number of I/O requests on server hosting virtual machines.
Script uses all available CPU on Windows 7 and approximately 15% CPU on Windows 10.

Get User Folder Size

Script Description

Script provides total size, total number of detected subdirectories and files in provided path, local or UNC.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'interactive user'. In some environments it might be necessary to run as 'local system'. The script should be executed every 1 day.

A timeout of 720 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
Input Path Full path of the folder to measure. To measure user folder recursively use '\*'. HOMEPATH and HOMEDRIVE variables are accepted. Examples of valid paths are '%HOMEPATH%\Documents', '$env:USERPROFILE\Downloads\Doc.txt' and 'C:\*\*?.txt'. For more information about wildcards read the official documentation
Maximum Delay In Seconds Maximum random delay set to avoid overloading server hosting virtual machines. Provide number of seconds less than 600

Get Device Manager Information

Script Description

Retrieves the number of hidden input devices and the list of input devices which drivers are having troubles. Disabled devices are treated as errors but shown in a different colum.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

None.

Outputs

Devices With Errors Int Number of devices which have problems or are disabled
Hidden Devices Int Number of hidden devices
Details StringList List of devices which are disabled or have problems. It has a CSV format with information about the device, drivers and error code

Further Information

For each device, an error code is returned whose meaning can be found in this page under ConfigManagerErrorCode property.

Get Frameworks Version

Script Description

Retrieves information about the .NET, Python and Java versions installed on the device.

Get PowerShell Information

Script Description

Obtains information about the PowerShell version and active execution policies on the device.

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.

Get Windows Experience Index

Script Description

Retrieves if the Windows Experience Score the computation is correct, if not it will be recomputed.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 240 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

None.

Outputs

Label Type Description
CPU Score Float A score for the processors on the computer, measuring the number of calculations per second
D3D Score Float A score for the three-dimensional graphics and gaming capabilities of the computer
Disk Score Float A score for the sequential read throughput on the primary hard disk on the computer
Graphics Score Float A score for the graphics capabilities of the computer for Windows features
Memory Score Float A score for the memory throughput and capacity of the computer
Base Score Float The lowest score of the ones before is chosen as the overall score

Further Information

Computing Windows Experience Score increases CPU usage for a short period of time. Recommended to be executed when users will not be affected.

Copy Windows Small Memory Dump Files

Script Description

During execution, script copies collected Windows small memory dump files to the network shared folder provided as an input parameter.

Execution context and suggested scheduling

Run the script as 'local system'. The script should be executed manually.

A timeout of 720 seconds is recommended.

Parameters

Label Description
Network Path Absolute path to the network shared folder where memory dumps should be copied. UNC path format is required (e.g. \\Server\SharedFolderName)
Maximum Delay In Seconds Maximum random delay set to avoid server overload. Provide number of seconds less than 600

Further Information

In multidomain environment, domains must be in trust relationship. To understand how to configure a network share, to work properly with Nexthink Act, please visit this page.
Small memory dump can be enabled by setting value of registry key HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CrashControl\CrashDumpEnabled to 3.

Read Mini Dump

Script Description

Reads most recent Windows Minidump file using application BlueScreenView, provided by NirSoft. Assists with quick investigation of the possible system crash root cause, which often can be faulty driver.

A timeout of 120 seconds is recommended.
